Not by itself. ShinglEx 800 can tighten micro-cracks in the shingle surface, but it is not a leak repair and won’t fix failed details (flashing, penetrations, fasteners, underlayment). Repair leaks first, allow the roof to dry, then use ShinglEx 800 to rejuvenate and protect the field shingles.

The most common method especially for contractors, is airless spraying, with a light back-roll to press material into the granules. Rolling works well too; use a brush only for edges/details. Airless spray (preferred): 0.017–0.021 tip (e.g., 619 is fine), 100–150 mesh strainer, and just enough pressure for a clean fan (typically ~1,800–2,400 psi). Do not thin. Roller: 3/4″ nap shed-resistant woven cover (go 1″–1¼″ on very rough profiles) with a 9–12″ frame and 5-gal bucket grid. Brush: 2–3″ sash/angle brush around vents, flashings, and ridges.

They solve different problems. ShinglEx 800 is a waterborne, film-forming rejuvenator for asphalt shingles. It creates a thin protective layer that helps retain granules, adds an enhanced UV shield, and includes a mildew-resistant coating/film to help resist surface staining—available clear or tinted for a uniform, non-“painted” look. It’s easy to recoat later and is a strong choice before solar installs when you want a cleaner, UV-protected surface. Soy-based treatments are penetrants (oils/esters) that soak into shingles to re-soften the binder and improve flexibility; they typically do not leave a surface film and usually don’t add UV screening. Roofs often need more frequent retreatment, and fresh oil can complicate future coating until it weathers off. Choose ShinglEx 800 if: granule protection, UV help, cleaner look, tint options, and future recoatability matter. Consider soy-based if the main goal is flexibility with minimal visual change and no need for a surface film. (Both require sound, repair-ready roofs; neither is a leak repair.)

On typical asphalt shingles, plan about ~200 sq ft per gallon per coat (see TDS). Real-world results vary ~175–225 sq ft/gal with texture and porosity. For the recommended two-coat system, total usage averages ~100 sq ft per gallon combined (example: 10 gal for 1,000 sq ft). Always verify with a small test square on your roof and adjust as needed.

Clean, dry roof. Apply when air & surface ≥ 50°F (10°C) and rising, with no rain/freezing in the forecast for 24–48 hours. Stir thoroughly until uniformly blended; do not thin.

ShinglEx 800 is a waterborne, film-forming rejuvenator for aged asphalt shingles (acrylic—not a soy-based penetrant). It refreshes the roof’s appearance, helps retain mineral granules, and improves overall weather resistance. The developed formula adds an enhanced UV shield to help slow sun-induced aging and a mildew-resistant coating/film to help resist surface staining—delivering a renewed look without a painted appearance when tinted to roof-tone colors. (Apply to sound, repair-ready roofs; it’s not a leak repair.)

Yes, on sound, repair-ready roofs, ShinglEx 800 forms a thin protective film that helps retain mineral granules, reduces surface dusting, and adds an enhanced UV shield to slow sun-induced aging. Many customers see meaningful life extension versus doing nothing. Actual results depend on roof age, exposure, prep, and application rate. (Fix leaks/details first; ShinglEx 800 is not a leak repair.)
